As early as 2020, a few reggaeton artists were unhappy with the way the genre was shifting towards the mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a participant in a fresh generation of musicians who are determined to shift the course. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and various other genres was a typical practice.
